A dying woman who loves deer was surprised in her bed with a fawn — and the bittersweet moment was captured on camera.
Lisa McDonald shared the story to a Facebook group called “The Kindness Pandemic”.
“I wanted to share this story I am currently along with my sister palliative caring for my mum who is not expected to make it through the night,” she wrote. “My mum has been a lover of deer her whole life. She has bambi statues everywhere she is wearing a bambi T-shirt in her bed and will be cremated in one too. My sister and I and the rest of the family that are supporting us are also wearing bambi tshirts we are calling them our nursing uniforms.”
McDonald said she tried to find a real-life “Bambi” to surprise her mom, but unfortunately her mother’s health was deteriorating quickly.
“I found a place on Facebook that had a mobile farm for kids birthdays etc. and sent them a message. They had a fawn and were willing to bring her to meet my mum tomorrow. However unfortunately mum deteriorated quickly today,” she said.
The owners of the farm dropped everything to bring the deer to McDonald’s mother.
“Simone and Chris didn’t hesitate they drove 2 1/2 hours to bring bambi to meet mum. Out of pure love and kindness. I cannot thank them enough for what they have done for my mum and my family,” McDonald said
